“corpoemcadeia – dance, prison & gestalt” by Catarina Câmara

The publication “corpoemcadeia – dance, prison, and gestalt. Practices Beyond Good and Evil”, authored by Catarina Câmara and featuring photographic contributions by Arlindo Pinto, Fernando Alves, João Vasco, Paula Arinto, Rosa Reis, Rui Morais e Castro, and Susana Paiva.

“CorpoEmCadeia is an artistic project that combines the practice of dance with Gestalt psychotherapy, developed within a prison setting.

This publication covers the period from 2019 to 2022, which took place at the Linhó Prison with the support of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

The project aimed to promote access to culture and facilitate psychosocial reintegration processes among people deprived of their liberty.

Its framework was based on the interplay between dance—with an emphasis on the improvisation and creation methodologies of the Olga Roriz Company—and Gestalt psychotherapy, whose approach focuses on human existence as a creative process.”

The book, published by FCGulbenkian, will be publicly presented on October 6, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., as part of the conference “Artistic Practices in a Prison Context,” which will take place in Auditorium 3 at FCGulbenkian.
